41 évesen légi szerencsétlenség következtében életét vesztette Kobe Bryant ötszörös NBA- és kétszeres olimpiai bajnok kosárlabdázó. Az autósport világa is őt gyászolja.

Tragédia rázta meg a sportvilágot vasárnap este: az amerikai TMZ értesülései számolt be először a hírről, miszerint Kobe Bryant, a kosárlabda valaha volt egy legmeghatározóbb alakja helikopter-balesetben elhunyt, akárcsak 13 éves lánya, Gianna Maria is. Összesen nyolc utas és a pilóta halálát okozta a baleset.

Mindössze 41 évet élt az NBA-játékos, aki az észak-amerikai ligában ötször lett bajnok, az amerikai válogatott tagjaként pedig a 2008-as, valamint a 2012-es olimpiai játékokon aranyéremmel zárt.

A baleset okát és körülményeit az amerikai szövetségi légügyi hatóság (FAA) vizsgálja. Az FAA egyelőre csak annyit közölt, hogy a lezuhant helikopter Sikorsky S76-os típusú volt. A Los Angeles Times című lap riportere, Richard Winton arra emlékeztetett, hogy a tragédia idején a környező hegyeket köd borította – írja a baleset körülményeiről az MTI.

Az egész világot megrázta a tragédia, ez alól az autósport közege sem volt kivétel. Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Carlos Sainz, Lando Norris és még számos autó- és motorversenyző is megemlékezett Bryant haláláról, mint az az alábbi válogatásban is látható.
